Report of activity in Kashiwanoha by Yumi

This month, I joined activities almost every week. Second week was at Kashiwanoha. Third week was at Mie University. Fourth week was at Onesto village.

At second and third week’s hub, we operated an activity called village making which creates the screen of the community of their activity hub together. At Pangea, we had a time for brainstorming and discussion about the feature of the village everyone wants to come, and then the picture of the village was paited.

Now, as you know, Yuruchara (loose character) is in big boom across the nation.
In Chiba prefecture where Kashiwanoha is in has the famous Funassy.
In Kashiwa, Kashiwani exists, I heard. Of course, Mie has Yuruchara.
Kashiwani seems not the greatest. So, the villagers in Pangea Kashiwanoha even created a new character, “Kashiwasshy”.

This is the eagle character in his age of 35. He sometimes goes to the center of a city (maybe Tokyo). He ride on TX and flies before it goes underground at Senju. He occasionally wears business suits. By the way, his partner is “ Katarina Kashiwanna”!!
It was really funny. Also, the name of the village was “Kashiwa, Kashiwanoha!”. However, this time, it was changed to the “Kashiwanohaaaaaa!!, like “Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” in the cartoon “Dragon Ball”.

Report of the activities in Mie University

On July 20th, a training session for Pangea facilitator was held in Mie University.
From Japanese and foreign students to adults, many folks joined!
In the afternoon, an array of activities was held and children enjoyed with energy.

Pangea of the year in 2012 was selected!

Last month, Pangea volunteer of the year was selected!
The Awardee is Ms. Risako Kabata, called Kaba-chan, working in Kyoto University village.
I, also, owe a lot to her.

We received a message from her for her award!

Hello, this is Kabata Risako.
I am very happy and honored to be selected as "The Volunteer Of the Year" in the year
of 10th anniversary!
For me, this year is my last term in university and this award is very memorable.

I have worked as a volunteer for four years since I entered Pangaea in winter
when I was a sophomore.
At first, I was so embarrassed because I was very awkward with children.
However, I gradually became frank with children. They kindly accepted me without
worrying about our difference in age.

President Yumi told to me;
"You don not have to flatter with children" and "do not exart yourself"
This made me aware the essence in intracting with children.

Now, I am very eager to see children.
I've been encountering many cheerful children's smiles in Japan, Korea, Kenya,
and Vietnam in Pangaea! I hope they will grow up all well!

Other information

- On August 24th, next month, Kyoto University village will be connected to Nairobi and Seoul. We will have three branches.
We will feature it to you on the Pangea Newsletter on September 2013 edition!

- On Sunday, August 25th, Kashiwanoha village share in activities with Nairobi!
Because there is a 6 hour time difference, the activities will be started later than usual.

- On September 21st, the event that we already announced, celebrating 10th
anniversary of Pangea, will be held.
